Gap New Arrivals: Quick Review

I have had a couple of people ask about new arrivals at Gap. There are some beautiful things right now and here are my favorites.

Eversoft striped neon tunic

These sweaters are longer than your typical sweater, so they work over fitted bottoms beautifully. They really are as soft as their name, and there are many more colors in store than what is showing online. My favorite is the mint green with grey stripe.

Intarsia chevron sweater

I have been working on this line the last couple of visuals shifts, and these sweaters layer up beautifully.  The web site says long sleeve, but after a friend asked, I double-checked, and they are more like 3/4 sleeves. Great with a patterned scarf.

Striped tassel scarf

We have certainly had a run of cute scarves this fall/winter at our store, and they are very popular. But so far, this is my favorite. In person, the thin, pink strip pops and is just the thing to add to a comfy tee like this one.

Last week, I tried on two pair of black pants for review.

1969 Legging Jeans

We haven't had black jeans for months, and finally got some last week. Our customers have been asking every day, so I have no idea why it took so long for us to get them in stock. I have never owned a pair of black jeans, so I thought I would give them a try. The fit is slim from waist to ankle. I tried on the 4 (only comes in regular length), and they fit like my usual size 4. I have gotten very attached to my Citizen of Humanity Rocket High Rise, but these are great for the price point. I find our denim to be very accurately priced.

Ultra skinny stretch pants

I also tried on the new Ultra Skinny. These are the skinniest pant we have, and our store got 4 colors. I like the black the best. The fit is really great on these, super skinny all the way to ankle. Photo's below.

These are the size 4 and they fit perfectly. I highly recommend them.

Anthropologie Holiday Display Workshops Mix-up

So....
When I looked at and RSVP'd for the Window Display Workshops, it showed as 10-24 on my calendar, and also on the Facebook calendar. So, I made arrangements for Rhonda, my friend and neighbor to give the kids a ride to church with her, and I planned to drive up to Richmond and back to participate.  I got up yesterday morning, double checked the time and date, put lunch in the crockpot, and got the kids' veggies all ready to go in the steamer, so they would have lunch upon return from church, and even put cinnamon rolls in the oven for breakfast.
I got to Anthropologie right on time at 10am, only to find the doors locked and no one in sight. While waiting, (and triple checking again- on my phone) 4 girls walked up, so cute they could only be Anthro employees. :)  I asked about the workshop and the manager said, "Oh, I think that is next week." 
I checked my phone again, it was showing as today!  The sweet manager invited me to come inside the store while she looked at the schedule.  Unfortunately, the Richmond store was scheduled for November the 5th- a day I can't go. But Hannah, as I found out the manager's name was, was sweet enough to offer me a candle and a cup of coffee for the mix up.  She also gave me the kit for the project, and offered to let me do one and send it back to her so that I would still be able to participate.  We walked down to Starbucks, where I insisted she did not need to buy my coffee, and we talked for a few minutes and she headed back to get her work done and open the store.
Long story short, I sat at Starbucks and completed the kit.

I was able to look around and try some things on, and Hannah offered me any candle I wanted, and I made a small purchase. 
I was disappointed to not be able to participate in the event, but the girls were so sweet, it made me fall more in love with the store.  Thanks Anthro Richmond!
Here is what I tried on:

Random Moulinette Soeurs dress-
I can't find this dress online, but it does not matter. It was beautiful on the hanger, but terrible on me.  It was way too tight on the hips/bum/waist, and way too big up top. I am an average girl, and tried on a size 4. On par with the norm for me lately. Unless you are tiny on bottom, busty on top, leave it on the hanger.  Moulinette Soeurs, I want to love you!

Whitecaps Blouse by Odille
I might be the last person on earth review this skirt, but I LOVED it. This was on my wish list, and now it has made it to the keeper pile.  I can't wait for this to hit first cuts. I would love to use it for/around Thanksgiving.
The sister to the shirt in the pics came home with me. This one looked like it had already been washed and dried it was that messed up.  I already own it in white/baby blue stripes, but I got the black/ cream lace.

Last, but not least, was this ensemble. I liked it, but I did not LOVE it.  I will wait for cuts to decide on these. I like the blouse, just don't know how much I would use it, since I got this.

I tried on the small in the tee, and should have tried the x.small also, b/c it felt floppy in the shoulders.  I tried on the 4 in the skirt, but should have tried the 2.  I would say they are true to size, but I would have liked the comparison.

J Crew Fitting Room Reviews & OOTD

I went to MacAurthur with the girls last Sunday after church. Still in search of the perfect family pics outfit and also the perfect pencil skirt. I tried on the 4 last time, and this time, the 2. As expected, it fit better in the waist, but the bum was way too tight.  Like, "I am sorry, I have to stand for the 2 hour church service, or I might split some seams" tight. :)
Here is what I came in wearing:

I love this dress. I got it in the special sale room at Anthro last year, and picked it up b/c of the price tag, thinking, "I will try this on, but only because it is a steal." I fell in love, and it got a loving spot in my closet.  I have lost a few pounds since I bought it, so I threw on the favorite belt.  This weather is back and forth, so since I was freezing all day the day before, I added a tan cardigan, but ended up being to hot to keep it on....

What I tried on:

This is the wool pencil in the size 2- too tight.  But I love the sweater that is more like a tee. I am headed back for second cuts on this bad boy. The belt came home with me. (Allie insisted.)

J Crew Fitting Room and OOTD

I had to pick up Samson from the groomers on Friday, so it was the perfect opportunity to hit Mac Aurthur and shop Nordstrom, JCrew, The Loft, and walk around Brahaha.
Here is what I came in wearing:

Dress: Old Navy clearance (50%off lowest price, $9)
Shoes: Caio boots, DSW
Sweater: Worthington JCP (free $10 off coupon, came to $9.99)
Belt: Thrifted
Necklace: Anthropologie (gift from my SIL's @ Christmas)

Here is what I tried on:
I wanted to try the pencil skirt after looking through all the polyvores created by Debye for me. I could only find one in a 4....

Buffalo Check Boy Shirt

This skirt was a 4, and fit great on the behind, but not on the waist. I would like to try a 2, but they were all out when I looked.  I would LOVE this outfit for Thanksgiving!

I also tried on the Bici Tee, after seeing it on Debye. She is so cute!

But....I ended up coming home with a tee and a tank that were $9.99 a piece!

I hit the Richmond store last week, and tried on some things from my wishlist. Here are a  few....

Loosely Looped Tee

I tried this in a small and x-small. Both were fine, but I wanted to be able to wash and dry, so I chose the small. I could not wait for sale on this beauty, I loved it so much!



Snowy Egret Shift

 I loved this dress! I saw some other reviews complain about the fabric, but I did not have a problem with that. I had a BIG problem with the shoulders. I tried the 2 and the 4, and both were fine. I think I am going to go with the 4 and try to take the shoulders in.  But not until sale....

Surging Springs Skirt

This was big-time LOVE for me.  I will be grabbing this on first cut.  The fit was stylish and very lady-like.  Navy blue, in a great neutral shade. This is the size 4.
