Beauty Mega-Post: Part 3 Old Skool Hot Rollers

Here is the method I use for fast hot rolling. The video is pretty self-explanatory, if dorky.
Ask questions if I did not explain well enough. :)

Beauty Mega-Post: Part 2 Curling Ironed Hair

I have a confession to make.  I hate washing my hair. There, I said it. (I feel like a HUGE weight has just been lifted off my shoulders.)  My friend Millie and I have this secret language. We speak days- as in, how many days it has been since we washed our hair. I also found out that Millie spaces her days out based on running. I totally do that, too.
Example: I went for a 6 mile on Saturday. Came home, washed my hair, let it dry overnight, then curled it for church.  I used a dry shampoo on my roots (this one: Rockaholic Dirty Secret), then sprayed my entire head with aerosol hair spray, then curled my hair. No exercise Sunday. Yesterday, I pulled it all up in a headband and pony tail while I dropped my kids off for school and cleaned house. When I picked my kids up, we went to the YMCA and worked out, then came home and showered.  On the days I don't wash my hair, I just take a sit-down bath and put all my hair on top of my head so it doesn't get wet. The reason that I hate washing it? It is so long, and although it looks fine- I have a LOT of hair, so it takes a long time to dry and curl.
Here is how I curl my hair with a 1" barrel. (Warning, video at the end- I am not tech-savy, and I hate the sound of my own voice.)
I start by pulling up all my hair except the under layer.  I curl from the bottom up.  I also curl away from my face on each side.  But if you like it towards, it is basically the same idea.

I let it down the three layers, and curl each one.  I will show you how I wrap the hair around the barrel in the video:

Does this help give you some ideas for your hair? I have more things I can show, I want it to be helpful....

Beauty Mega-Post: Part 1 The 5 Minute Face

I have had a few questions about hair and make-up so I am going to share what little I know over the course of about 5 posts.
Today is the 5 Minute Face. This is the make-up I do when I am in a hurry, or just don't want to spend a lot of time on my make-up. The darker lipstick makes up for a lack of effort toward eye make-up and brightens the face. I can actually do this in less than 5 minutes, b/c it happens often. :)
After I have washed my face, I use a clean moisturizer and allow that to soak in while I moisturize my body and start getting dressed.  (I use Boots Sensitive Light Moisturizer during the day, and Boots Anti-Blemish Night Moisturizer at night.)

I start with Smashbox Sheer Focus tinted moisturizer, only a pea sized amount for the entire face.  I dab it on in small spots around my face and then blend in.
Then I add a small touch of bronzer just on the cheeks. I use Too Faced Primed and Poreless.
I brush a light amount of blush on my cheeks and sweep over the nose, forehead and chin. Then I curl my eyelashes.
Then add a generous amount of mascara to top and bottom lashes. (I use Maybelline Great Lash.)
At the end, I use a bright lipstick.

Ta-Da! What make-up item can you not live without?  That is your favorite product?

Who's Ready?

For a sunburn or a butt whoopin'?
Well, I have the solution for you.

First the sunburn:
1. Get your husband to come home from wherever he happens to have run off to.
2. Put him in the car and take him to whatever place you want to go eat.
3. Think to yourself, "It is a fabulous day today, lets sit outside to eat!"
4. Sit outside to eat.
5. Instant sunburn.

Next, the butt whoopin':
1. Put your gym clothes on.
2. Drive to the gym (or walk, depending)
3. Find the spin class with the biggest, meanest looking instructor (and a full class).
4. Pick a bike in the front, so you can't bail.
5. Instant butt whoopin'.

I got a nice little burn today while having lunch with my man. It was so nice outside, I thought it would be a great idea to throw on a cute little dress that J happens to love and go to Citrus and eat a late breakfast (for lunch).  It was so nice I didn't realize I was getting burnt to a crisp. (You know, like my bacon.)
Dress: Vintage Anthro (I don't think there is really such a thing.
But I got it YEARS ago, and I don't know the name.)
Shoes: Summer Warrior Sandal, Anthro
Bracelet: Coral Links, Lucky (via TJ Maxx)
Necklace: Bird with Pearl, F21
I am so clueless, I forgot until looking back at this post that I wore a cardigan over this everywhere but outside at the restaurant and in the house when I was fixing dinner (which is when I took these pics- just before changing to go the gym), I just forgot to put it back on for the pics. Ugh.

I love my toe polish. It is one of the Sinful Colors- carried at Walgreens.  The colors are vibrant and a little shocking.  I just took my neon pink off and switched to this vibrant purpleish. The color didn't show up as well in the picture, but here you go.  BTW... I either by Sinful or OPI, they are the only brands that work on my nails.
