Family Life (Running)

This past Sunday was my 1/2 marathon, so I wanted to share a few pictures with you from the weekend.
I ran this one by myself, as opposed to the RockNRoll 1/2 that I ran in Virginia Beach. I trained for and ran with my BFF Heather. It was a lot harder to run alone, even though I trained alone.
The empty spot where Heather was supposed to be.
Me and my Cory.

The rest of my fan club. My little Mr. Handsome, Cory, Madison, Me & Maddie's friend Lily (a budding runner!)
Me and my man. (Nice hair, huh?)
I found my friend Jackie- she ran with pneumonia!

Crossing the finish line! whew!
I didn't better my time from the last 1/2 marathon, which I was hoping to do. I finished in 2 hours, 12 minutes, 2 seconds, which is about 2 minutes slower than I had hoped. After the turn back just past the 1/2 way mark, I was running into the wind. And boy was it windy! Kansas is known for it's high winds, and I do training runs in the wind, but not this high. (20-25 mph) So I could feel myself pushing hard after the turnaround, but I didn't know how bad it was until the finish.
All that being said, I am glad I did it, and I still had a decent finish time. I honestly don't know if I will ever do another one, because it is very time consuming to train, and it is a lot of wear and tear on my joints. I am very interested in trying a triathlon, but haven't done any research yet, to see what is available in my area. I would also need a trainer or partner, since I have no experience there.
Have any of you done a triathlon? Any suggestions?
A big thanks to all my friends and family who have been so supportive and encouraging.

The Goal

I will be back with Thrifted Thursday tonight, but I just wanted to drop this in your lap.
This is my goal dress.
I got a gift certificate for Banana Republic for Christmas, and while browsing, found this little beauty. The only one left was a size 2. It fits, but the waistband does not allow for any cookie eating in my near future, so I am making it a goal to be in this comfortably by the time we leave for Miami at the end of March.

*The picture does not do this any justice.  It is emerald green silk, and feels delicious!
Here is the link to the product page, but WHAT is UP with her shoes?!

Who's Up For A RUN?!

Hate to beat a dead horse here, but have I mentioned how much I love running?
Yes?
Well, I am going to tell you again. I took up running seriously about a year ago last month.  And I have become addicted.  It is hard work, but so worth it.  I have given up having nice toes permanently. Any pedi  I have is going to be rubbed off in a matter of a day or two, but it is still worth it.
Why run?  Well, obviously it will burn calories (yay!), but for me the bigger benefit is the mental (and this is all relative) stability.  I feel free in my mind when I am running. I feel closer to God.  I feel like a better mother and a better wife. I know that I am relieving stress, and clearing the air in my head.
Which leads me to my OOTD from yesterday.  I did a little running around during the day yesterday, but my OOTD was nothing to write home about....
My running clothes were much more interesting. My BFF Freda gave me this running shirt, and if any of you remember, I have told you I have the sense of humor of a teenaged boy, so I think it is hilarious.  Especially since Freda is the most conservative girl EVER.  I thought you might enjoy it too.
Your Pace

Or Mine

Isn't that funny? No?  Well I think it is. Don't say I didn't warn you about my sense of humor.  And yes, I am standing INSIDE my closet.  It was the best way I could think of to take it.

Here is my OOTD from this morning. I met at Starbucks with a sweet girl from Bible Study. It was so nice to get to know her a little better. Then I came home and switched out to a pair of casual pants and a sweater to clean and pack some more.  I got my hall pantry cleaned out and packed up, then started on my glass shelves in the kitchen and two of the kitchen cabinets.  Tonight we have a dinner with some associates, which I forgot about, so I will need to get re-dressed. Ooops!
