I Am Mom To a Junior

Today was the big day. Ringdance.  (For those of ya'll NOT from the South- yes "South" is capitalized- it is JR. Prom.)
I still can't believe I am the mom of a 16 year old. It doesn't seem possible at all. It seems like just yesterday I ditched my boyfriend the week before Ringdance, so that I could go out with my friends and have some REAL fun.  You know, the kind that involves dancing until your feet hurt to classics like It Takes Two, Whoomp There It Is, Jump Around (my personal favorite- from back in the day, driving around in the Chevy Beretta with Heather, singing at the top of our lungs), and our Ringdance Theme Song: In Your Eyes from the best movie ever, Say Anything.  "Dude, you're bringin' me down."  It also brings back memories of imbibing illegal substances. I am going to be that lame mom who assumes my kids would never do that. I have to, he drove my car!  Besides, I really wanted to be a good kid. I even suggested we go to a local favorite drive-in to eat, rather than spend a ton of money on some fancy restaurant none of us could afford. Doesn't everyone go to Doumar's for Ringdance?  Anyway, this post wasn't supposed to be about me. Oops.  Tripped up on Memory Lane.
Here are some pics of my baby.

This is a friend of his (Sydney) who offered to go with him at the last minute,
since he recently broke up with his leech er.... girlfriend.  Isn't she the cutest thing?!

And what does the mom of a kid who is leaving for Ringdance wear?  I knew you were wondering....
Shirt: Old Navy (cheep, cheep)
Sweater: Target
Jeans: Gap Distressed
Shoes: Dillards
Necklace: Anthro Obscured Orbs
Belt: J Crew

I am such a goober: Trying to give you a closer view of the necklace, but watching what the kids are doing out of the corner of my eye too.
Oh, and he is home, safe and sound, no alcohol involved. And home early, too- since he wrestles tomorrow. I KNEW there was a reason I kept them so busted busy! :)

  2. I wore my distressed jeans today too - Willie said "Are you trying to look fashionable today, or are you just wearing clothes? Because those pants really look bad, not fashionable." hahaha - thanks Willie. You look so cute. Your big boy is adorable! Hey - your pants are rolled up - what up? I thought we were not supposed to do that? How do I roll them the proper way?? I need a lesson.

  5. Wow, this post made me think about the day i'll be sendng my little boy out the door with some cute chick---it made me so nervous, so thanks for adding the part about him being home safe and sound and early!
You are laid back, cute personified in your OOTD.
I notice Peggy said we aren't supposed to roll our pants? What's this about? Maybe because it makes us shorter peeps appear even shorter? I still do it sometimes though anyway. I rarely thumb my nose at What Not To Wear-esque rules, but this is one where I do sometimes:-)

  7. No, Kara, she had her pants pinch-rolled in a pic she texted me one time. I was like, "Wha?!" You can't pinch-roll your pants! LOL
Peggy- roll straight up. Two times. :)
