30 for 30 Overview

What did I learn?
I learned that I don't need to buy something new, just because I don't know what to wear.
I learned that I love the shoes in my closet.
I learned to be creative.
I learned what shapes I REALLY like on myself.
I learned that I really want to buy one or two things I love, rather than 5 bargain things. (Don't get me wrong, I still love a bargain!)
I learned that I can live with a lot less!
I need to clean out my closet. I am moving!!!

30 for 30, Day 5 (I am running out of time) Let's Talk

So I did the math, (and now you know my inability to calculate numbers accurately) and I am out of time on the 30 for 30 challenge since tomorrow is the last day, and I still have 4 posts to do. So, either I call it a wash, or I pack in 4 outfits in one day tomorrow. What do you think?
I think the dilemma came in getting sick and not getting out of PJ's for 3 days, and not changing out of my running pants one a couple of days. Any way it happened, and although the past week has mostly consisted of me staring wistfully into my closet thinking, "Why did I EVER think I had nothing to wear."  And the contents of my closet answering me (in my mind of course!), "Don't blame us, we have been trying to tell you.  We are packed like sardines in here!"  Sooooooo, I guess the point of the exercise has been made. I need to be MUCH more selective about my shopping.  I obviously don't need quantity, so the focus will be quality.  I think what I miss the most is my shoe variety.
I have two shopping opportunities this week. Tues/Weds in DC (during J's interview) and next weekend.
I want to decide before I go how to spend it.  Quality, quality, quality!!!
Here is my OOTD for today:
Dress: Dillards
Sweater: J Crew Corwin
Shoes: Seychelles Kiss At Midnight, DSW
Necklaces: Dillards
Bracelet: Dillards
Belt: Anthropologie, Cake Decoration

I also have not shopped for 30 days. I wonder when the withdrawals end?

30 for 30, Days 7 & 6 (Girl, I Got My Hair Dun!)

I know. It is really no big reveal. I have had the same hair since 1976. Blame it on my husband. He loves babies babes with long, blond hair. I have tried other things- to no avail. He likes the 1994 version of me. (The girl he met at McDonalds.)
Short, blond hair (2005)

Longish, brown (2007)

Yesterday (hello, roots!)

Today
Not much difference, huh? Read: Boooooriiiiing. I blame Jay.

Here are my OOTD's.
We went out on a DATE last night. Shhhhh, don't tell the kids. They like to pretend we don't like each other that much.

Then today, I had a hair appt, my sister came over so we could play, my in-laws came and had dinner. Then I got to spend a delicious hour (okay, it was longer than that!) with my buddy/neighbor Rhonda.

Zach & Madelyn (my niece) were determined to be in the pictures.
This is me trying to keep them out.

30 for 30, Day 9 Plus a Make-up Outfit (for number 8)

Today was Bible Study day, and Zach usually goes to play with his buddy down the street when I leave. The bus comes an hour after Bible Study starts.  Well, today Daddy was home to hang out with him while he waited.  So when I got home, there was a note from Zach on the porch written in sidewalk chalk:
"Good Bi Mom" AKA, "Good Bye Mom"
Isn't this the sweetest thing you've ever seen?  I LOVE it. There is nothing on earth like being a mom. I adore it.

Here is my OOTD post. I am still trying to make interesting use of my 30 items. But pretty much today, it was all basics and using the jewelry and belt to add interest.
Shirt: Old Navy L/S Striped Tee
Sweater: J Crewlet
Skirt: Paperbag waisted, thrifted
Belt: thrifted
Shoes: Nine West Roothy
Necklace: Anthropologie Mermaids Rainbow

When I got home my girlfriend Allie came over to hang out. I took some pictures of her two little ones.  Her son Gray, whom we affectionately refer to as "Gray-Bear" (and have ever since he was a baby!) is our favorite little guy.  Jay and I are both NUTS over him.  We secretly wish that Michael and Allie would give up custody of him to us. SHhhhhhh!
Gray-Bear worrying over Maddies boo boo.

Isn't he a doll? Don'tcha just wanna eat him up like a little snack cake?! (I do!)
Here is her little girl, sporting my Anthro necklace.
Marah Grace

Big Brown Eyes
And here is an extra outfit thrown in. I changed when Allie came over, so she could talk to me while I cleaned out the fridge.

YUCK!! It is my most dreaded chore!  But now it is all done, and I had a girlfriend to talk to while I did it.

Does this make you laugh? Yeah, me too.
I am finally getting my hair done Saturday.  I have not touched it since October, and it is making me crazy. Any great ideas out there?  Help a sister out!

30 for 30, Days 11 &10 (When is this ever going to end?)

I am so over this challenge. And I hate admitting that.  I am watching other girls who are doing the same challenge, and they are so cute it is disgusting motviating me.  But I just want to quit. And I want to reward myself for quitting by shopping.
Jay has an interview in D.C. next week, and he has asked me to go. Guess what day that is? Yep, you guessed it! MARCH 1st!!!!  Guess who is going SHOPPING?!  Whooo Hooo!  (Am I a little too excited about this?)
Yesterday was spent mostly with my Mother in Law.  We have a great relationship, and love each other dearly.  I had lunch with her, then straightened her hair.  She has arthritis, and has a hard time doing it herself.  Jay is trying to have his mom and step-dad move out to Kansas with us, if all this pans out, so I spent the day answering questions from her and my father in law about the situation.  Jay's mom also works at Geico as a Service Supervisor, so he has always wanted to have his mom work with him- if he had is own office. She is very friendly and customer oriented, and she understands the company and the product, so she would be great as a front person in his office.  I would love having them close, so my kids would have more grandparents there.
Well, enough about me. What are you all up to for the weekend?  I love to see what everyone is doing.  I think Americans live for the weekend!

30 for 30, Day 12 (I am such a total bum)

Here is today's OOTD. I totally went with the "Mom Uniform". The 'ol tank & cardigan with jeans.
I returned a few things at the mall, met my man for lunch, couponed at Harris Teeter, and hit Sam's Club. Where I wiped out the fruit and veggie section, thereby causing the girl at the cash register to ask if I were making a fruit salad.  I told her, "No, I just have a bunch of kids."  She said, "You a gooood Mamma!"  Well, yes. I like to think so. Mother of the Year Award Nominee. The lady at Sam's Club said so, so it must be true. :)
Tank: J Crewlet
Cardigan: Also J Crewlet
Jeans: UO BDG Cigarette Jean
Shoes: Keds Fall Champ Stripes

Me: I know. It is hard to recognize me without any make-up.
I just couldn't do it today.
To offset the total "bum-ness" I came home and ran almost 3 miles with my son. How amazingly awesome it is to have a son that can run with me?

30 for 30, Outfit 13 Sunday Casual OOTD

Sunday Casual OOTD
Sunday Casual OOTD by deelightfully vintage featuring joes jeans
Here is a make-up post for the days I didn't get dressed. What I changed into to go to lunch yesterday....

30 for 30, Day 14 (Plus a catch-up and anything else random I could find.)

Here is my Sunday OOTD, pretty simple, but I liked it.  We went to church this morning, then to lunch with friends.  Our friends Jordan and Kara were in town from Stafford (near D.C.) and a whole gang of us went for Mexican. (I could eat that every day of the week!)
Shirt: Gap
Skirt: Anthropologie, Madchen Diamond Flame
Shoes: Dillards

Cory was trying to make fun of me taking my OOTD pics!
(Yes, we are in my man's "Man Cave")

TJ cut my feet off in the pic, therefore eliminating the best part of the outfit, in my opinion.
Here is a make-up that I took on my phone from Friday:

Shirt: Anthropologie Velvet Cowlneck Tee
Pants: Loft
Shoes: CONFESSION! I wore flip flops that were not on my 30 for 30 list!
But it was freakin' 70 degrees outside, and I didn't want to hide my pedicure!
(Besides, I didn't leave the house in them.)

This is my sad face on the plane last weekend, after security took my no-longer-available Oiseau Anthro lotion b/c it was point something over the size limit!  Do I look like a bloomin terrorist?
These are my new OPI colors from the new Texas line.
This one is "I Vant To Be A Lonestar"

And this one is "Gal Meets Galveston".

My airport bordom. Attempts at a self portraits with Jay.
He kind-a got cut out of the picture. OOPS!

30 for 30, day 15 (No, I didn't skip a day, I just didn't download it off my phone.)

Here is today's OOTD. I woke up with a killer migraine, but I had my niece to spend the night, and she and Zach wanted to do something....
What did they want to do, you ask?

Chuck E Cheese! What else would they ask a mom-who-has-a-migraine to do?

That place is a hot spot of humanity, let me tell ya'.

Shirt: Gap
Shorts: Gap wool
Sweater: J Crew Jackie Cardigan
Necklace: Gift from friend, Dragonfly boutique
Shoes: Ciao Bella
Belt: Target

Close-up of the necklace

No, I am not mad, just pretending to be....

30 for 30, Day 17 (T.C.I.G.O.F- Read through to find out what this means)

Well, I guess I gotcha'.
Here's the OOTD. I did Bible Study this morning.  We are doing the Beth Moore study of David. "A Heart Like His", and it has been so spot on with everything going on in our lives.  I need the constant reminder that my hope is found in God and His Word, and not in myself and in other people.  We had a great group discussion this morning. And we have such an awesome group of girls.  I love getting ready for every week.
My cousin was asking me about the Daniel Fast, and I have been looking into it. The timing would be perfect for what Jay and I are praying over right now.  Have any of you done it?  Heard of it? Have suggestions?  The main thing I am worried about is the no coffee thing. That would be the hardest part.
Shirt: Anthropologie Soldierly Sparkle Tee (finally came!)
Shorts: Gap Wool (awesome)
Shoes: Keds Fall Champion Stripe (I have been coveting these since I went to Chicago last summer.)

I am such a Goopy Goober!

One without my head for good measure.
(I'd hate to disappoint!)

A close-up of my flippin' sweet shoes.
Oh, and the initials mean: This challenge is getting old fast. (It really is.)
What are ya'll wearin' today?
